Over 150,000 San Antonio residents have filed for unemployment in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Roughly 68,000 of those claimants were earning less than $22,000 a year. 1 in 5 San Antonio adults never finished high school. It’s time for a new direction. We can prioritize an investment in our workers, neighbors, families and communities — all without raising taxes.

What we’re proposing is a 4-year program that will set up to 40,000 San Antonio residents on a path to a stable career in our post-pandemic economy.Tens of thousands of displaced San Antonio workers will receive training for higher-wage, in-demand jobs and be provided with the education, wraparound services, case management and necessary emergency grants to ensure they have the best opportunity at a new future.

This is an opportunity for thousands of San Antonio residents to enter a career with a future, not just a job to cover next week’s bills. We’re ready for change. We’re ready for a new trajectory. We’re ready to invest in our people. We’re ready to work, San Antonio.
